New Year's Love ***NSFW***

Okay, this clocked in at 41 pages, a little less than 8500 words. It's nothing dramatic, just a couple days in the lives of Joshie and Nick. I hope y'all enjoy it. Couldn't find Joshie in the pink material, so he has to have the original blue for now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!

Pink, Penguins, and Pricks

Chapter One

“Whoa. You’re just in a bitchy mood today, aren’t ya?” Nick muttered as he narrowly averted being walloped by the new horse Chance had bought. The big gelding had a nasty temper, and had tried to kick, bite, and smack Nick every chance he got. Nick had only been too slow once, and that had learned him right quick. “If this is you made nice by being gelded, I’d hate to have known you before.”
“Makes ya wonder why Chance bought him,” Max said, peering at the strawberry roan. “Got a red-head’s temper on him.”
“Firebrand,” Nick said as he finally got the horse into its stall. “Aptly named.”
“How’s he settling in?” Chance asked.
Nick glanced at him. He’d been so busy trying not to get killed he hadn’t heard Chance enter the barn. “He’s a mean bastard, Chance. What’s the story with him?”
Chance frowned and walked over to the stable. He held out one hand and that damned horse snuffled it like Chance was made of sugar cubes. “He’s a sweetheart. Rory fell in love with him, so I had to buy him.”
“Of course you did.” Nick sighed and barely kept from rolling his eyes. He’d have bought Josh Satan himself if it’d made Josh happy. “Well, this horse might like you two, but he wants me dead. Better have Josh up the life insurance if I’m gonna be dealing with this bastard.”
Chance snorted and tutted at either Firebrand or Nick, Nick wasn’t sure which. “Aw, are you going to be a jerk to everyone but me and Rory?”
Nick busted out laughing when the horse bobbed its head up and down.
“Swear to God, he knows what you asked,” Max said. “Seen stranger things than a horse getting a question right.”
Nick shrugged. Horses bobbed their heads whenever the hell they felt like it.
“I’ll handle him, or Rory will,” Chance murmured as he scratched behind Firebrand’s ear. The horse was practically slobbering on him in ecstasy. It was a testament to his faith in Nick that he didn’t question him on Firebrand’s behavior. “You hurt anywhere?”
Nick started to shrug, but the sting on his shoulder stopped him. “Got my shoulder, but not bad—“
“Let me see it,” Max demanded, going from genial to bossy little shit in a second flat.
“It’s nothing.” Nick stepped back when Max would have grabbed him by the shirt collar. “Seriously, stop. Josh can check it when he gets home.”
Max quirked an eyebrow at him, and Chance did the glowering thing he’d been doing less of since becoming a daddy. Still looked ornery, though.
Nick ignored them both. Max and Chance were good guys but they could be the biggest mothers in the world when it came to their friends. “I’m fine,” Nick reiterated. “See?” He plucked at the shirt. “Not even a tear in the fabric. Ass just nipped me a little.” He raised and lowered his arm, hiding the wince that wanted to escape. His shoulder was a little tender, but he wasn’t really hurt.
“So you’ll probably have Josh fussin’ over a little bruise,” Chance figured, and rightly. “If it’s anything worse than that, I’ll be hearing from Josh. He’ll come ripe a stripe off my hide.”
There was no arguing about that. Nick was ready to move past the whole deal. “You bought this beast ‘cuz he was nice to you and Rory?”
Chance nodded and pushed his cowboy hat up an inch or so on his brow as he studied the roan. “Yeah, that and he was abandoned on some property North of here. Luckily, not for long, but I figure he wasn’t properly socialized.”
“Or maybe he’s always been a nut.” Nick eyed the horse, who sure seemed to be given him a stink-eye in return. “He don’t like me.”
“Guess he’s temperamental.” Chance grinned at Nick. “Or he just has good taste.”
“Fuck off,” Nick said, flipping Chance the bird. Chance shot it right back.
Max snickered and shook his head. “Kids, y’all behave.”
“Horse won’t like you any better than me,” Nick pointed out. “Go on and try to pet him.”
Max scrunched up his nose and mouth like he’d smelled and tasted something bad. “Nah. I can tell he ain’t gonna want no one but his favorite people touchin’ him. I’m not keen on losing any fingers.”
“Bo’d be upset if you did,” Chance teased, and Max turned bright red. Despite the years he’d been with his husband Bo, Max was still innocent in a way Nick didn’t think he’d ever been. It was… it was sweet, is what it was. Good to see that some people were just made nice.
“You still bar-b-q-ing tomorrow?” Nick asked of Chance. “It’s supposed to rain and be freakin’ cold out. Maybe we should have a quieter New Year’s Eve celebration this time around.”
“We could have an inside dinner on New Year’s Day like we’d planned still, though,” Max chimed in with. Then he pointed at Nick. “How about no naked stuff and fireworks this year, either? You’re lucky you didn’t lose some bits last time.”
And Nick could still blush apparently, too. “At least I don’t remember much of it.” He’d been pretty drunk. “And I had a good time.” He thought.
Max snorted and Chance outright laughed at him. Nick grinned. So what if he’d made a fool of himself? He hadn’t been the only naked, drunk guy out there. Something he could have pointed out, but decided instead to let his friends have their fun.
They finished up in the barn, with the agreement to play it by ear tomorrow. Nick didn’t think there’d be as much drinking this time seeing as how Chance and Rory were daddies now. As much as they cuddle that baby, he fully expected them to add a few more kids to the brood, soon.
Annabelle, he was fairly certain, wasn’t going to pop out any more kids, not unless her men did some serious begging and bargaining.
Nick drove over to the house he and Josh had built on the property. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a good house, and inside, it was filled with warmth and… Well, and too much pink stuff and penguins, but Nick would take those over his own boring shit. They were part and parcel of Josh, those two things. Josh could have painted the whole damned house pink and stenciled on penguins for all Nick cared. As long as the man was happy.
Not that Nick was going to tell him that, because Josh would pink and penguin up everything.
Nick could see it, and the vision made him shudder. “The things we do for love.” It was actually pretty cool.

Chapter Two

Josh stretched his back and arms as the last patient left the clinic. “Flu season sucks, so bad.”
“It does,” agreed Crystal, the receptionist. “And I don’t feel so hot.”
Josh narrowed his eyes at her. “Are you serious?”
Crystal beamed at him. “Nope. I’m ready to get out of here and party!” She bounced up out of her seat and did a rather bad shimmy. “Dancing and drinking, and maybe a little something else…”
Josh cracked up and flapped a hand at her. “Please. Let there be no ‘little’ to it!”
Crystal giggled and held her hands about a foot apart. “This could be too—“
“I sincerely hope you two aren’t discussing anything inappropriate at work.”
Josh and Crystal both almost choked sputtering out denials to their boss, Dr Vaughn. He watched them sternly for a minute, then snorted and laughed. “There’s nothing believable in all that babbling you both just did.”
Josh grinned at him. “Well, we had to try.”
“You can dock us from about ten minutes ago if you want,” Crystal offered.
Josh poked her arm and glared. “Speak for yourself, lady.”
“Five minutes then,” she offered.
Josh shook his head while Dr Vaughn cackled at them. “Not even. You were the one doing the whole hand thing.”
Crystal turned on him, the evil wench. “Oh yeah? Who said ‘let there be nothing little to it’, hm? Like you know a lot about little…things.”
Josh let his mock-indignation come hopping right out. “Are you implying something there, Crystal? About me or Nick?”
Crystal smirked at him. “Are you desperately trying to hide something about you or Nick?”
Josh tipped his nose up in the air. “Puh-leeez. We are two fine specimens of the human male.”
“Oh God,” Dr Vaughn wheezed. “I can’t even—you two can’t—“ He stopped talking but gestured at them both.
“Why not?” Crystal glanced around the office. “We’re buddies, and no one is here but you. Unless you’re…offended?” she asked sweetly.
Dr Vaughn didn’t take offense, instead laughing again. “As long as y’all are okay with it. I don’t want sexual harassment claims being filed.”
Josh pointed at Crystal. “Oh, I’d never report her for sexually harassing me. It’s the highlight of my day sometimes, and besides, she can’t help herself. I’m me.” He winked at Crystal, who rolled her eyes so far back he expected them to pop out her ears.
“Riiiiight. Dork.”
Josh was so glad he didn’t work at the hospital anymore. Dr Vaughn opening up a pediatric practice in town had given Josh an opportunity to escape the crazy hospital hours. No one guilted him into extra shifts, either.
“So what are you doing for New Year’s Eve?” Josh asked Dr Vaughn. He didn’t know a whole lot about the doc’s personal life other than he was single and probably about ten years older than Josh was.
“Oh, you know.” Vaughn studied a chart in his hands as he spoke. “I thought about going home to see the folks, but there’s a blizzard back east. I’ve gotten used to the warmer Texas winters, and I don’t want to get stuck in a snowstorm. I’ll probably just relax, have some wine, and watch TV.”
Josh only had to debate with himself for a moment. That just sounded like a lonely way to spend New Year’s Eve to him. “Well, you could always come out to the ranch. We usually have a lot of alcohol and food. Uh.” He remembered last year’s celebrations. “Um. We can get kind of crazy.”
Crystal thumped him on the shoulder. “I want to come!”
Josh blinked at her, then at Dr Vaughn, who was unnervingly quiet. “If you want to come, that is. Everyone’s, er…” Shit shit shit! Had he really just invited them both to the ranch? They’d be the only single people there, and that would probably suck for them both.
Fortunately, he was off the hook.
Dr Vaughn shook his head. “No, I’m not one for parties. I get unbelievably nervous and honestly, I’d prefer a night of relaxing, no offense.”
“None taken,” Josh assured him, feeling guilty at the rush of relief that hit him. “If you change your mind, you know where I live. At least, you have it on my job app.”
“I do.” Dr Vaughn turned to Crystal. “Are you going?”
Crystal tapped her bottom lip for a few seconds then shrugged. “Probably not. I just wanted to watch Josh squirm when I asked, but who wants to be the single in a party filled with happy couples? I’d end up bawling my eyes out in the bathroom.”
“Same goes,” Josh told her. “You know where I live since you’ve been over for dinner before.”
“And you burnt the crap out of the manicotti,” Crystal reminded him. “It was crispy,” she said to Dr Vaughn, “and not in the good fried-lasagna way that Olive Garden does it.”
“Olive Garden has fried lasagna?” Dr Vaughn asked her. “I love lasagna, and Italian food period. I haven’t tried Olive Garden in years.”
Crystal came up onto her toes as she licked her lips. “Oh yeah. It’s so bad for you, and it tastes so good!”
“Lasagna fritta,” Josh added as Crystal sang the praises of greasy, cheesy goodness. “It is pretty amazing.”
“You should totally try it sometime,” Crystal urged.
Josh considered himself fairly intelligent, but it was only then, when Dr Vaughn’s cheeks tinted a little pink, that it occurred to him the good doc might have a bit of a crush on Crystal. Josh’s first thought was that they’d balance each other out nicely, with Crystal’s exuberance bringing a spark to Vaughn’s life.
His second thought was that if the two of them hooked up and it didn’t pan out, the work atmosphere would really suck. If they did make it, Crystal would gloat for a good while and the work atmosphere would suck a little—but mostly it’d be okay. He’d be happy for them both.
Josh watched the two of them for a minute longer, then he decided that a little nudge wasn’t entirely out of place. “Crystal could probably point out the best food on the menu. Or there’s this great little Italian place in Victoria, oh my God, their lasagna is to die for! Zio’s, have you heard of it?” Josh didn’t give them a chance to answer. “The owners are really from Italy. I don’t know why they decided to move to south Texas—why does anyone? But they’re here and the tiramisu they make will bring tears of joy to your eyes.”
Josh wanted to suggest Crystal and Dr Vaughn go out and try the place together, but that seemed too pushy. He jotted down the name on one piece of paper, and left it on the counter. Maybe that would be enough of a hint. “Here’s the name. I doubt you’ll need reservations, but maybe, with it being New Year’s Eve tomorrow.”
He tucked his pen in his pocket. “I have to go. Happy New Year’s!” Josh hoped by leaving them alone, they’d… Well, he didn’t know. Hoping they’d fall into a passionate embrace was too much. But maybe they’d at least talk.
“Hey baby,” he said as he stroked the fender of his new-to-him red FJ Cruiser. He hadn’t wanted a big vehicle, but Nick was right. There were deer and hogs that could cause wrecks, and a small car wasn’t as safe. When he’d seen the used FJ, Josh had experienced what he suspected was a surge of pure testosterone. He’d wanted to jump in the SUV and drive over boulders and shit.
“I wouldn’t do that to you,” he said to the FJ. “That might scratch your paint. Ohhh, but then I could have you painted pink!” And Nick would just die. Josh laughed at the vision of Nick seeing the FJ painted pink. Of course, Nick would bitch and moan about it, but in the end, he’d leave it be. Nick did put up with Josh’s quirks and likes—which was why Josh wouldn’t really have the vehicle painted pink.
Josh unlocked the door. After he was buckled up and on the road, he relaxed into the drive. When a fun song came on the radio, he cranked it up and sang along at the top of his lungs. It wasn’t a Pink song, and Lord knew Pink would probably hate the singer since all her tunes were on the airhead pop side, but it was still a fun song. Even if Josh did feel a little bit like a traitor for liking.
By the time he pulled in the driveway, it was almost fully dark. The sun set so much earlier in the winter, but he liked it. It’d been unseasonably warm this year, with Christmas being warm enough that he’d been okay wearing shorts outside, but today was cooler, and there was definitely moisture in the air.
“Probably because there’s clouds, moron,” he muttered to himself as he shut off the FJ. Josh unbuckled and opened the door, then somehow tripped as he got out. The resulting fall bruised his butt as much as his pride. His ass hurt, the right cheek to be exact. Josh glared at the FJ. “Really, baby? After I take such good care of you, you just toss me out like that?” He could see now that he’d caught his foot on the floor mat, which was flopped over the gas pedal. “Ungrateful, that’s what you are.”
“Josh? Who’re you talking to?” Nick asked. “Did you fall? Wait. Why did I even ask?”
Josh leaned back and saw Nick on the porch. “I’m talking to Baby here, and no, I didn’t fall. I was just checking her undercarriage.” That was a car part, right?
Nick laughed at him.
“See if you get laid tonight,” Josh huffed as he got up. Of course, Nick would get laid any time he wanted. Josh wasn’t stupid. He wasn’t turning any of that sexy man down.
“Don’t get mad. I think you’re adorable, you know that,” Nick said as he came down the porch steps. “Are you okay? Any parts that need kissing better?”
Since Nick had seen exactly how Josh had landed, Josh took him up on the offer. He nodded and shoved his scrubs down while turning around—and he didn’t fall, a fact he congratulated himself on. “As a matter of fact…” Josh peeled his boxers down a few inches. “I do have a boo-boo.”
Nick rumbled wordlessly and palmed Josh’s cheek. Then he rubbed it a little harder and Josh just about melted into a puddle at the man’s feet.
“You can just do that and I’ll be your devoted love slave forever,” Josh offered, wiggling his backside at Nick.
“You mean you aren’t already?” Nick patted his rump. “Can’t tell if you have a bruise or not. It’s getting dark.”
“Feels bruised.” Josh reluctantly hitched up his underwear and scrubs. “How was your day?”
“Good, I reckon. Chance isn’t sure if we’ll be having the bar-b-que tomorrow since we’re gonna have another cold front coming through. Wet and freezing, not something the natives here handle well.”
“You’re from Montana, so our Texas winters probably seem like spring to you.” Josh shut the FJ’s door and hit the fob to lock it. He took Nick’s hand in his. “What’re we going to do tomorrow then?”
Nick gave his hand a little squeeze. “I don’t know for sure. I’m thinking maybe you and me should spend New Year’s Eve together.” Nick stopped them walking and cupped Josh’s chin. He started down at him with an intensity Josh could see despite the waning light. “Naked. Fucking until we can’t move.”
Josh’s breath gusted out of him as his entire body tightened with the need Nick never failed to bring up in him. “I like that idea.” He widened his eyes and stared at Nick’s mouth for a second before returning his gaze to Nick’s.
Nick grinned, looking so devastatingly handsome Josh ached for him. “Good. You know those puppy dog eyes get me every time, honey.”
Josh blinked then closed his eyes as Nick lowered his mouth. At the first feel of those lips against his, Josh whimpered and wrapped his arms around Nick’s neck. He all but climbed up the man, eager and wanting. Nick dominated the kiss, his tongue claiming Josh’s mouth as Nick’s big hands cupped his butt.
Josh hitched up one leg, then the other, until he was wrapped around Nick. He moved one hand down to Nick’s shoulder and back up, then did the same with the other.
Nick hissed and went tense for just a second. Then he kissed Josh deeper, harder, and kneaded his ass with enough to leave behind the fingerprint bruises Josh loved to see.
But Josh wasn’t fooled, and besides, his butt was a little tender on one side. He whipped his head aside and scowled at Nick. “What’d you do?”
“Aw, Josh,” Nick whined, trying to get back to kissing Josh.
Josh peeled himself off of Nick and pointed at the house. “Inside, now. I want to see your shoulder.”
Nick pouting always made Josh want to laugh. The man denied that he pouted, but he did it, and he was too cute to take seriously when that bottom lip pooched out just that slightest bit. Josh knew Nick was doing it now. He swallowed his laughter and put a hand to the small of Nick’s back. Nick’s skin felt warm through the t-shirt, but not abnormally so.
“It was just a little nip,” Nick grumbled as they entered the house. “Not even a bite.”
“What?” Josh sputtered, slamming the front door. “What bit you? I’ll bite it back!” He considered that and quickly rectified the statement. “Unless it’s a spider. Or a roach. Or a—oh whatever. Let me see.”
Nick kept up his grumbling as Josh helped him get the shirt off.
“Stop being a big baby,” Josh told him as he threw the shirt on the couch. Then he saw the bruise. “Oh. Ouch. Did you ice it?”
“Yes, once I got home. I didn’t want you worrying.” Nick touched the back of Josh’s hand as Josh gently probed the bruise. “Chance and Rory’s new horse is a right bastard. I’m lucky this was all he did to me. Pretty sure he’d have stomped me into a puddle of guts and regret if he’d had the chance.”
Josh loved animals, but he thought he’d finally found one he wasn’t going to care for at all. “Why’d they buy a dangerous horse?”
“Said the damn thing is sweet as sugar for them, and it was around Chance.”
“So it’s just a weirdo?” Josh asked. He could see toothmarks! Or impressions, rather. “This doesn’t look like a nip. I see teeth prints.”
Nick tried to glance at the spot. “Well, yeah. I mean, a horse has a lot of power behind ‘em, but that’s more of drag marks from the teeth. I’ve been chomped before and it hurts a lot worse. Looks awful, too. This isn’t so bad.”
“I don’t think I’m going to like that horse at all,” Josh muttered, tracing the darker part of the bruise. “He hurt you.”
“He’s just an animal who don’t have another way to express himself.” Nick took Josh’s hand in his and kissed his knuckles, a move that always made Josh’s stomach trembly. “There’d been plenty of times that horse tried to tell me to back the fuck off, but I didn’t, ‘cuz I’m stubborn and dumb sometimes.”
“You’re not dumb,” Josh said fiercely.
Nick chuckled and brushed his lips over Josh’s knuckles again. “Who isn’t sometimes? And you didn’t deny the stubborn part. You’ve never been a liar.”
Josh shrugged as his body flushed with arousal. “I’m stubborn too. I don’t lie because I cant’ keep the lies straight in the first place.”
“And ‘cuz you’re too good a person.”
Josh lifted to his toes and Nick gave him the kiss he wanted.

Chapter Three

Josh didn’t fuss as bad as Nick expected him to, which was good. Nick didn’t want his man stressed out over a little bruise. Speaking of—
“How’s your ass, seriously?”
Josh batted his lashes at Nick. “Fine, wouldn’t you agree?”
Nick swatted Josh’s butt and Josh moaned. “More’n fine.” Nick got Josh’s pants off, along with his underwear. He kissed Josh as he got him a double handful off ass and began walking toward the couch. He loved the way Josh just plastered himself to him. Josh was always eager for him, never made Nick feel like sex was a chore.
Nick stumbled around the couch, his and Josh’s feet and arms tangled as they held onto each other. Josh giggled and grabbed the arm of the couch. “I’m not the only clumsy one today.”
Nick rewarded the smart comment with a push that sent Josh onto his back on the couch. “There ya go. Just lay there for me.”
“Wait.” Josh sat up and pulled his top off. “Okay. I want to feel as much of you as possible.”
Nick waggled his eyebrows. “You can feel all of me you want to. However you want to.” He hoped Josh got the hint. Sometimes it was hard to ask for what he wanted.
“Ohhh, really?” Josh dragged the last word out, his voice dropping lower. “So if I tell you to get your jeans off and ride me like a pony—“
“I’m gonna say what, with my knees dragging the ground?” Nick teased. “Ponies are small.”
Josh fisted his dick, which was definitely not small. “Well then, like you’re riding an elephant.”
The laugh busted out from Nick before he could tone it down, but there was no need to. Josh was laughing right along with him. Then he did a lousy impression of an elephant trumpeting, while waving his pecker around. Nick laughed so hard his eyes watered.
“Dork,” he finally got out with all the affection he felt for Josh. God, he never thought love was real, and love like he and Josh shared? He’d never have believed it until it happened to him. “Sexy dork. Grab the lube from under the cushion.”
“Damn right I’m sexy, you bossy bastard.” Josh plunged his hand under the farthest couch cushion. “Are we pervs, keeping lube all over the place?”
“We’re smart,” Nick informed him. “And it ain’t like we have it out where everyone can see it. Except in our bedroom, but that’s a private place.”
“Right.” Josh opened the lube and squirted some on his fingers. “C’mere and let me play with your ass.”
Nick took off his jeans and socks, then came around to the front of the couch. Josh had moved to sit up properly on the couch by then, and he patted the coffee table. “Just put your hands there and show me what I want to see.”
Damn, but he liked it when Josh got like this. Nick bent and spread his legs, offering everything to Josh. Having himself open and exposed was a huge turn-on for Nick. He arched his lower back, exposing himself even more.
“Nice,” Josh murmured. “Such a beautiful ass. Firm, sleek, tight. I think I need to explore it more.”
Nick sucked in a sharp breath when Josh spread his cheeks. He felt the moist waft of Josh’s breath right before the warm, wet glide of Josh’s tongue down his crack.
“Josh—“ Nick gulped, desire coiling in his belly. He quivered, his cock hard and needy.
Josh hummed and licked his way down to Nick’s asshole. He pushed Nick’s cheeks further apart, one hand slick with lube, then he tongued over his hole.
Nick didn’t know what he said, how much he begged as Josh rimmed him, pushing that tongue into him again and again. All Nick was aware of was the pleasure that built in him, rushing through his veins and making his cock drip with pre cum. Nick couldn’t even reach for it. His legs were threatening to give on him, and he needed to hold himself upright if he wanted more of Josh’s mouth on him.
And he did. Nick began moving back, fucking himself on that tongue. Josh held onto his ass tighter, squeezing and even pinching as he drove Nick higher and higher.
Nick moaned and his arms trembled, then there was more filling him, fingers spreading him open. Josh slapped one of his butt cheeks, and thrust two fingers in to the hilt.
“Take it,” Josh said, pulling those digits out and slamming them back in. “You want more?”
Nick was too mindless with the rampant need in his body to answer, at least with words. He managed a grunt, and he shoved back as hard as Josh pushed those fingers in.
“Oh yeah, you’re ready for me.” Josh curled his fingers and Nick went up on his toes as pleasure zinged out from his gland. “Gonna make you scream,” Josh promised.
Nick had expected to be turned and put on top, but no. One second Josh was finger-fucking him into oblivion, and the next he pushed between Nick’s shoulder blades. Nick went down on his knees as he put his chest to the coffee table. The second he had himself lowered, Josh thrust his fat cock into Nick’s ass.
And Nick screamed just like Josh promised, as bliss filled him with the stretch of Josh’s shaft. Nick’s back bowed and he slammed back, unwilling to be passive in the least, and needing more.
Josh cursed and grabbed onto Nick’s arms. He held on as he hammered away at Nick’s ass, animalistic grunts and rumbles coming from Josh. All Nick could do then was meet each thrust and moan, mindless with the rapturous feelings Josh pumped into him.
Then Josh let go of one of Nick’s arms. He pinched his hip, which hurt, then fisted his dick, the pleasure of which was amplified by the tiny pain of the pinch.
Nick shouted, bellowed, screamed—he did it all as he came so hard his stomach ached. Josh added his cry to the noisy mix and shoved in deep, his spunk warming Nick’s ass with every spurt.
Josh collapsed on top of him, panting and shaking much like Nick was. They stayed there, limp and fucked out, until Josh’s cock softened and slipped from Nick’s ass. The resultant gush of cum spilling down his thighs made Nick squirm, and Josh grumbled as he rolled off to flop on the floor.
Nick liked the pleased look on Josh’s face. Okay, it was smug, but Josh deserved it. He’d fucked Nick until they were both boneless. Nick lowered himself down slowly, shoving the coffee table aside. His shoulder was starting to throb and that was annoying as hell, cutting into his happily sated experience.
But Nick ignored the pain and curled up beside Josh. He tried to swipe at the spunk that was tickling him, then gave up with a “Fuck it,” and settled closer to Josh.
Several minutes later, Josh opened one eye and Nick grinned at him. “So, naked and fucking tomorrow too?” Josh asked. “Or do you wanna go hang with the friends?”
Nick thought about it. “There’s no reason we can’t pop in and say hi to everyone if they do all meet up still. Not for long, maybe an hour, then we can come back here and spend New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day loving on each other.”
Josh’s expression shifted into the soft, sweet one that always made Nick wonder what the man saw in him. Josh was a much better person than Nick ever would be.
“We can do that,” Josh whispered. He touched Nick’s shoulder. “Maybe introduce me to this horse so I can set him straight on what he can’t do to my man.”
Nick snorted softly and ignored the goose bumps that pebbled his skin. Josh’s touch often did that to him. “He won’t be handled by anyone but Chance or Rory from now on.”
“Still.” Josh rolled and kissed the bruise. “No one hurts you. No horses or… or other animals, either. You don’t deserve to be hurt.”
“Few people do, but it happens,” Nick said, then he had to close his eyes. He was tired, and happy, and warm, and with the man who meant everything to him. “And my brain can’t handle a deep conversation when you fucked me so thoroughly.”
Nick fell asleep with Josh murmuring softly beside him.

Chapter Four

Sometime during the night, Josh had managed to get them both up and moved to the bed. He woke up with a throbbing toe, proof that he hadn’t had a nightmare about stubbing his toe. Which sucked, because when he kicked the blankets off and looked, his toe was gross and purple and blue.
Looked like he’d be limping. The guys were never going to let him live it down, either. Oddly enough, that made Josh smile. He sat up and flipped on the lamp. Even though it was morning, and the clock showed that it was after nine, the room was still pretty dark. The drapes and blinds helped with that. Josh could hear the rain hitting the tin roof now, and he listened for a moment to the increasingly louder pings.
Hail? Well, the tin roof could stand up to it unless baseball sized pieces rained down. “Shit! The FJ!” Naked, hobbling, and sore from the fall out of the vehicle, Josh sprung from the bed. He stumbled but quickly righted himself.
“Josh?” Nick asked, his voice sleep-slurred.
“Shit! Your shoulder!” More important than the FJ, even if Josh did love that thing. He’d trade it for scrap metal for Nick any day.
“Shoulder’s fine.” Nick sat up and grimaced. “Go move your baby into the garage. My truck’s beat to hell already, ain’t gonna get hurt worse out there.”
“Let me see your shoulder.” Josh planted his hands on his hips. The pinging on the roof grew louder, the noise like a tickle down his spine.
“No. Go move that vehicle before it gets dinged up. I’ll still be here when you get back.”
Josh knew that stubborn look. He glared but quickly threw on a pair of sweats and flip-flops, then ran for the front door. His keys were in the pocket of his scrubs lying by the door.
“S-shit,” Josh stuttered, stunned by the cold temperature when he went outside. Shirt. Should have worn a shirt and real shoes. The flip-flops weren’t going to do much good in the deluge that was their yard.
“At least it’s not hail.” Nope, it was big ol’ drops of rain that were slamming down like God was tossing them as hard as He could at the Earth. “Someone having a tantrum?” Josh asked, glancing up at the dark sky. It was only dark for a moment before lightning brightened everything up and left him seeing hundreds of white dots.
After he’d blinked those away, Josh steeled himself for the cold and wet. He took off at a run, and when the rain hit him, he howled. “Shitfire!” It was like being pelted with sharp, freezing needles. Even if the drops weren’t ice, they had to be damned close to it.
Josh made it to the FJ and surprised himself by not slipping and sliding at all. Considering his aching toe, the puddles, mud, and rain coming down so hard he could barely see, it was a small miracle he’d stayed upright. He was shivering, his teeth chattering as he got in the vehicle, dripping wet. “S-sorry b-baby.” At least the FJ was made for rough stuff.
Once he had it parked in the garage, Josh went in through the side door, avoiding the rain. He bolted through the house as much as he could considering he was hobbled, so cold he thought he’d be tinged blue.
“You look miserable.”
Josh skidded to a stop in the kitchen, whapping his sore toe on the door frame. “Ow! Fuck! Ow!”
“Cute, but miserable,” Nick repeated, setting down his coffee cup and coming to Josh’s aid. “Hit your toe—oh hell, that looks painful.”
“It doesn’t fuckin’ feel good,” Josh grumbled as he clutched at Nick’s arm. “Stubbed it last night getting us to bed.”
“Aw, honey,” Nick crooned, and before Josh could stop him, Nick swooped him up in his arms. “I’m sorry. Let’s get these wet sweats off you before you freeze your nuts off. I like those nuts. As for last night…I remember you cussing and stumbling but…”
“Yeah, yeah, but I do that stuff all the time.” Josh eyed the bruise on Nick’s shoulder. “I guess you’re not hurting too bad today?”
Nick winked at him. “Nah, you know me. I’m tougher than the average bear.”
“You are.” Josh kissed Nick’s chest, the skin warm, the hair soft. He caught a few strands with his teeth and tugged.
“Oh, hey.” Nick hissed and bent to sit Josh in a chair. He removed Josh’s shoes then eased his sweats off.  “That hurt but I liked it. Made my dick twitch.”
Josh laughed and pinched Nick’s left nipple. “Well, I’ll make sure to do it when I’m fucking you in a little while.”
Nick arched a brow at him. “You can do it while I’m fucking you in just a minute.”
Well. That sounded like something Josh wasn’t going to be stupid enough to argue about. “So the hold up to that would be…”
“Let me grab a towel and dry you off real quick, then I’m gonna check your toe.”
Josh stuck his tongue out at Nick. Talk about a spoilsport. Nick headed to the bathroom and was back with a towel in record time. He dried Josh off, no playing around, then draped the towel over Josh’s lap. “Coffee, too?”
“That would be marvelous,” Josh told him, mouth watering. Caffeine would help make the morning better.
Nick got them both a cup of coffee then squatted and gently cradled Josh’s foot. “Is it broken?”
Josh took a big, much-needed gulp of coffee. Once it had sufficiently scalded his tongue and throat, he glanced at his toe. “Nah. It’s just stubbed good. No sense doing a half-assed job of it, right? And now I’ll bang it on every motherfucking thing in existence.”
“That’s the way of it,” Nick agreed. “Sure we don’t need to bandage it or something?”
“Positive.” Josh drank the rest of his coffee quickly as Nick stood up and took a seat beside him. Nick was watching him with those dark eyes and Josh’s insides were jittery with the knowledge he was about to get the stuffing fucked out of him.
He could hardly wait.
He didn’t have to. Nick tugged the towel away and tossed it on the floor. “Spread your legs.”
Josh did, pushing his butt down and giving Nick a show. “Like this?”
Instead of answering, Nick got onto his knees, sliding out of his chair to kneel between Josh’s knees. “Nice. You’ve got a real nice dick, honey. Nice balls, too.”
“I’m not sure nice is good. Maybe sexy, or thick, or big, or—oh God!” Josh whimpered as Nick licked his slit repeatedly. Nick cupped his nuts and rolled them gently in his hand.
Josh rested a hand on Nick’s neck, the other in Nick’s hair. “Please.”
Nick didn’t tease. He sucked on the head, eyes turned up to Josh’s. Josh bit his lip and tried to keep from thrusting. He didn’t want to come too soon, he wanted Nick to fuck him, and if he went off like a rocket, well, Nick wouldn’t be doing him.
So Josh held back and moaned as Nick began taking him in deeper. Sweat broke out over his skin as he began to pant and squirm. Nick kept at his balls, but moved a finger back to tease his hole.
Nick hummed, flicking his tongue along Josh’s length. He nudged at Josh’s hole, and Josh started begging. “Please Nick, pleasepleasepleaseIdon’twannacomeyet!”
The questioning sound Nick made had Josh tugging at his hair. “You know why! You promised to—uh…” Josh’s eyes crossed as silky throat muscles contracted around the tip of his cock. His heart pounded as his balls drew tight.
And Nick bobbed back up—completely up, taking that wonderful mouth off of Josh’s cock. Josh started to protest but Nick pushed that finger into him, dry, and Josh decided to moan his appreciation instead.
Nick nosed under Josh’s balls and licked around his hole.
“Nick,” Josh pleaded, needing so hard he couldn’t stand it.
“I’ve got ya.” Nick pushed that finger in deeper, faster and Josh keened as his gland was caressed.
Nick pulled his finger free and in a quick move, hefted Josh up onto the table. He gripped Josh’s legs and pushed them up to his chest. Josh grabbed at the backs of them, and Nick bent to lick at Josh’s hole.
He didn’t rim Josh. Instead he spat, then did it again and again as he went back to fingering Josh. There was lube in the kitchen—of course there was—but apparently the lube drawer was too far away. Josh thought it was, and sometimes he liked the burn he got from not using it.
Nick saturated him then lined his cock up. “Ready?”
“Always,” Josh growled. Nick folded over him, hooking his hands under Josh’s back to grip his shoulders. Staring Josh in the eyes, he thrust, that thick cock filling Josh up so good he had to shout, had to clutch at Nick and move and wrap one leg around his lover.
“Love you,” Nick said as he pushed in to the hilt.
Josh tried to tell Nick that he loved him, too, but words were beyond him. Nick didn’t pound away at him at first. He used slow, deep thrusts to reduce Josh to a blithering mass of want and ecstasy.
Only then did Nick began to fuck him harder, faster, Nick’s need coming through with every powerful thrust of his hips. Josh mewled, head rolling from side to side. He was going to die from such intense pleasure.
Then Nick moved one hand between them to grip Josh’s dick, and Josh was orgasmic toast. He made a garbled sound as his guts went tight, his cock spurting his release between them.
Nick grunted and drove into him even faster, then he gasped and went still. Josh clenched his ass around Nick’s cock, milking the cum from him.
When Josh could think, he wondered if they shouldn’t spend the day naked and making love after all.

Chapter Five

A few phone calls later, and Nick opened the front door to Chance and Rory’s house for Josh. He and Josh had fallen back to sleep, then had two more long, loving sessions. They’d finally answered their cell phones and each gotten one of their hosts on the phone, telling them to get their butts over to the big house by nine for a more sedate celebration than last year.
Nine PM meant all the kids were in bed. Nick kind of missed seeing the little buggers, but he’d catch them tomorrow at the New Year’s Day dinner. Tonight was for the adults, and it since it was colder than a Yeti’s balls out as well as still raining cats and dogs, there’d be no fireworks. Nick was okay with that. Last year had been… fiery. He’d sure as shit never mess with fire while nude again.
“Hey, man,” Justin greeted them first. He was in the mudroom, taking off his boots. “Got soaked and wet boots suck. How’re y’all doing?”
Josh got a hug-pat from his brother while Nick settled for a handshake. “We’re good. Tired, happy.” Nick proceeded to take his own boots off as Josh toed off his tennis shoes.
“Look like you two been up to no good.” Justin winked and Josh pointed at him.
“Down. No discussing my sex life.”
Justin winced. “That wasn’t what I mean. You got a black toe, bro.”
“It’s not black, it’s… “ Josh looked down. So did Nick. It was kind of black and blue and purple. “Crap. My socks are soaked. Everyone’s going to give me shit,” Josh said resignedly, his shoulders slumping.
Justin tugged Josh to him with one big hand around Josh’s nape. Nick was glad Josh had family, but sometimes Justin was simply too protective, and that never failed to irk Nick. He tried to curb it, though.
“I’ll see if Rory will fetch you a pair.”
“A pair of what?” asked Evan from the door to the mudroom. “Jesus Christ. What’d you do to your toe?”
“Ugh,” Josh groaned. “I stubbed it. Forget this shit, I’m putting my wet socks back on.”
“If you’d worn rain boots,” Evan began.
“I am not wearing a pair of those ugly shoes,” Josh huffed. “My feet would rebel and that would be bad.”
Evan nodded at Josh’s feet. “Well, yeah, if that’s the way they do you when your feet like you, I can’t imagine what would happen if you pissed them off.”
“Y’all are seriously standing around talking like Josh’s feet have brains of their own?” Rory asked, poking his head in the doorway. “Gross, Josh. That looks painful. Did you break it?”
Josh sighed and shook his head. “No, I didn’t break it. Jesus, am I the only one who has ever stubbed a toe?”
“Like that?” Rory pointed to Josh’s toe. “Yes.”
“Ass.” Josh looked at Nick. “Someone else needs to do something stupid to get everyone off my back.”
Nick widened his eyes and tried his most innocent look, not one he’d really ever cultivated. “Why’re you looking at me? I vote for your brother to do it.”
Justin harrumphed and jabbed a finger toward Evan. “Nah, he can do it. Evan’s always Mr Cool, so if you’d just slip and land on that nice ass of yours, I’d appreciate it.”
“Y’all are dorks,” Rory informed them, laughing warmly. “Josh, I’ll grab you a pair of socks you can have. Brand new, so don’t get that ick-no look on your face. I got dozens of socks for Christmas since the washer and dryer keeps eating them.”
“You know it won’t matter. Justin and Evan are going to blab,” Josh said once everyone else had left the mudroom. “That’s what they’re doing right now.”
“Yeah, they’re bigger gossips than a group of old geezers.” Nick knew Josh wasn’t really upset, but he did get tired of being teased about his clumsiness. As graceful as Josh could be while dancing or making love, he often tripped over thin air. Nick didn’t find it as amusing since he was always afraid Josh would really end up hurt, but so far, it’d always been little boo-boos.
Josh turned those big eyes on him and Nick framed Josh’s face with his hands and took a slow, sweet kiss. “You know everyone loves you,” he murmured.
Josh nodded. “Yeah, and they pick on each other too, I just give them more opportunities than most people do.”
Nick nuzzled the skin beneath Josh’s ear, then sucked up a little purple mark there.
“Hey, no sex in the mudroom, unless I’m getting some, too,” Rory said. “Being a parent means less sex, and that’s… I mean, worth it, but God, I miss being able to go all night.”
Nick would have said something about TMI, but he figured from the blue-ish circles under Rory’s eyes that he needed to vent a little. “Not getting much sleep?”
“Not enough, but it’ll pass,” Rory replied as he handed over a pair of thick white socks. “Here you go.”
Nick took them and winced.
“What’s wrong?” Rory frowned. “Nick, did that horse bite you harder than you said?”
Josh made a worried sound and hurriedly finished putting the first sock on. “Let me see.”
Nick clicked his tongue, and tried to convey to Josh that he wasn’t hurting. Well, not much. The truth was, he was a little sore, but the wound didn’t throb like it had yesterday. Ibuprofen and ice had helped with that.
But he let Josh unbutton his shirt and push the material off his shoulder.
“Oh hell, look at that,” Rory muttered coming closer. “Chance!”
Nick had seen the bruise in the mirror, examined it closely. It was kind of a perfect counterpoint to Josh’s black, blue and purple toe, which was the whole point of letting the others see it.
“Well, you two make quite the colorful pair.” Rory started to touch the bruise, then hesitated as he asked, “Can I?”
“Sure,” Josh told him. Josh gently palpitated the area. “He’s just bruised.”
Rory touched him. “Man, it looks like it hurt.”
Chance came into the mudroom followed by Max and Bo. Justin, Evan, and Annabelle were behind them. The mudroom was crowded and stuffy suddenly.
Chance shook his head. “It ain’t a bad bite, sweetheart.”
“Aren’t those teeth impressions?” Rory asked as he pointed to what were in fact, bruises shaped like Firebrand’s teeth.
“Yeah, but Firebrand didn’t break the skin. It’s an ugly-looking bite, but Nick’s able to use his arm, aren’t you, Nick?” Chance tipped his head up toward Nick.
“Yup. Hasn’t stopped me from doing anything I wanted to.” Nick couldn’t help the wicked smile he felt sliding into place.
“Okay then. Maybe you ought to stay out of the horse’s mouth from now on,” Chance suggested. “Shouldn’t be hard since Rory and I will be dealing with Firebrand. But if he’s spread the word and told the other horses you’re tasty, well…”
Nick cocked his head. “You’re a weird guy.”
Chance nodded. “Yeah.”
“Bet the other horses wouldn’t give him a bite anyway,” Justin said, winking at Nick. “They wouldn’t want a mouthful of shit.”
“Fuck you,” Nick retorted. “They’d bite you just to get a mouthful of dick.”
“I grew up with him, so I know for a fact he doesn’t have a mouthful of dick,” Josh offered, throwing his brother a zinger.
“Does too,” Evan and Annabelle argued.
“Y’all are just defending him ‘cuz you gotta live with him.” Nick smirked at the trio. “We know the truth.”
The teasing and picking went on for a few minutes longer, and by the time everyone had it out of their systems, Nick was fairly certain they’d forgotten about Josh’s toe. Nick would make sure that he’d keep on distracting them if someone brought it up. He was feeling protective as hell, but their friends and family meant no harm. Everyone teased everyone else.
“Thanks for that,” Josh murmured as they settled in at the dining table. “I know what you did back there.”
Nick shrugged, but he couldn’t hold back a smile and a little surge of pride at having done something that please Josh. “I love you. I want to see you happy.”
“I’m happy,” Josh promised him, eyes warm and glistening. “I’ve never been happier. You make my life so much better. I love you too.”
And while their friends and family hooted and teased, Nick cupped Josh’s jaw and kissed him, a soft, sweet promise of more love to come.
